For over 20 years, NIRSA’s Student Officials Development program has been raising the bar for student officials training at NIRSA Championship Series events.

Through the Champ Series officials training, the student officials learn about the sport and about themselves. With the help from mentors and other skilled staff NIRSA student officials become those qualified experts we promise to provide.

Fundraising Committee
Following the loss of some key tournament sponsorships, the Student Officials Fundraising Committee was established in 2015 as a fundraising committee in support of student officials development at the NIRSA Service Corporation Championship Series Flag Football and Basketball tournaments. This volunteer committee raises money in support of student officials development opportunities as determined by the NIRSA Service Corporation. If you would like to expand your fundraising experience while supporting your passion and the future of student officials development, please contact [email protected]. If you’d like to support student officials development with a gift, donate here.
Currently, gifts to the Student Officials Development Fund support the following at the NIRSA Flag Football and Basketball Championships:

- On-site transportation for the student officials and their NIRSA volunteer evaluators.
Student Officials
Development Campaign
The Champ Series training at the various regional and national tournaments provides young officials with the experience they need to contribute meaningful in their communities. NIRSA student officials learn more than how to officiate a game. Students build skills like conflict resolution, communications, problem-solving and decision-making. If you’ve ever donned the black-and-white stripes or had to judge a minute-it-to-win-it game at the office, you know the pressure that comes with upholding the integrity of the sport.
