Games tipped off with high anticipation. Teams know that a win or a loss now will have a heavy impact on their future in the tournament. Over the course of the next few hours, teams will face high stakes competition that will result in a win or go home situation. With this in mind, the tenacity and intensity definitely picked up in this hour of play.
In the Women’s Club Division, Notre Dame and Ithaca had a hard fought battle that they took into two overtimes. With 4 seconds left in the first overtime, Notre Dame hit a three point shot that made it 48-48 to send it to double overtime. Led by Maggie Murdock, who had 20 points and three rebounds, the Fighting Irish managed to top Ithaca 50 – 48.
In the Unified Division, the Eastern Washington University Unified Eagles and the University of Iowa also found themselves in a close game situation. Bryce Barlow, who had 6 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals, really set the tempo for the team. The Unified Eagles won over the University of Iowa 34 – 32. The Women’s Intramural Division continues to heat up with the Wichita State and Missouri State match-up. Wichita State came out with the win 44 – 26. Captain, Megan Flanagan, led the team with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
