The first games of bracket play did not disappoint here in Wichita, Kansas. Teams emerged from the brief break with a hunger and tenacity unlike any other. These Men’s and Women’s Club games really showcased the hard work, commitment, and dedication that these athletes put into their game. Coaches were providing court-side leadership, guidance and even entertainment as parents looked on with anxious excitement.

In the Men’s Club Division, TAMU CC and Gonzaga came down to the wire in the Round of 16. They were tied 43 – 43 with 1:15 minutes remaining on the clock. Luke Lenhardt of Gonzaga had 10 points and 9 rebounds which helped propel his team to win over TAMU CC with a 48 – 43.

In the Women’s Club Division, Ithaca led DePaul 23 – 21 at the end of the first half. In the second half Ithaca held onto their lead to narrowly win over DePaul 42 – 39. Khyshwaunna Nance went for 8 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Notre Dame and Virginia Tech squared off in a close game in the Women’s Club Division. Kayla Airaghi hit a deep 3, buzzer beater to put Virginia Tech up by three at the half. Virginia Tech managed to hold onto their lead to win the game 45 – 42. Kayla had 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists to help her team secure the win.
