The early games on Sunday have been high-energy as we began to move toward the championship games here in Brosnaham Park.  The Co-Rec Division semifinal games have been full of exciting play, with Valdosta State and North Texas squaring off on one side of the bracket and Angelo State versus Tarleton State on the other side.

Co-Rec Division Semifinals

North Texas – 44
Valdosta State – 0

North Texas is the first team to punch its ticket to the finals with a commanding victory over Valdosta State.  Emma White had a touchdown pass, a touchdown reception, and a touchdown run to lead North Texas in its scoring.  The high-octane offense was complimented by stifling defense, with Ade Dina supplying two interceptions and Daisy Pratt having two tackles for loss during the game.  Charles Venters also had two touchdown passes for North Texas.  Valdosta State’s Kylie Cotton and Jacori McCoy had an interception each in the loss.

Tarleton State – 22
Angelo State – 18

On the other side of the bracket, the action was MUCH more intense, with both Tarleton State and Angelo State going back and forth on offense and defense the whole game.  It was an even match up until the end, when Tarleton State squeezed past Angelo State to move to the finals.  Studdard James and Caylee Matocha each hada touchdown pass for Tarleton State.  However, Rylee Hellman was the star, logging a touchdown reception, a touchdown run, and a tackle for loss for the winners.  Angelo State’s Charles Tapia tossed a touchdown pass to Shannon Thompson, and Thompson also had a touchdown run.  Justin Rhodes also provided defensive pressure with two tackles for loss and an interception in the loss.
