While the Women’s National Championship was being played on the championship field, the men’s semifinals were being decided on the side fields.  Lots of cheering and action could be heard as all four teams fought their way to the end.  Here are the results of the Men’s Division Semifinals:

Georgia College – 28
North Carolina A&T – 21

The first men’s semifinal was a barn-burner throughout the game.  Both teams had amazing offensive drives and defensive stand to make it close until the end.  However, Georgia College had enough firepower to prevail over North Carolina A&T.  Georgia College’s Mitch Risley once again unloaded a ton of passes, striking four times for touchdowns.  Cleve Warnock had an outstanding catch for one of those touchdowns.  Michael LaHood was a monster on defense, registering a game-high four tackles for loss in the backfield to help keep NC A&T at bay.  Julian Stephens Jr. had two touchdown throws for NC A&T as well as a touchdown run.  Vernell Mackey and Brandon Ethridge each had a tackle for loss as well for NC A&T.

Texas-Rio Grande Valley – 28
Georgia Southern – 26

Another incredible game on the other side of the bracket.  Both teams came ready to prove their worth and show their prowess.  Texas-Rio Grande Valley had been scoring frequently in pool play and playoffs, and Georgia Southern boasted a balanced attack.  With less than a minute to go in the game, down 26-21, Texas-RGV hurled a strike into the endzone to score and go ahead 28-26.  Texas-RGV made their final stand and escaped with the win.  Armando Garza had three touchdown throws for Texas-RGV as well as a touchdown run.  Salvador Martinez also had a touchdown reception.  The team of Isaac and Diego Martinez had two tackles for loss and an interception, respectively.  For Georgia Southern, George Johnson hauled in three touchdown receptions in the losing effort.  Cameron Johnson also had two touchdown passes and a touchdown run for Georgia Southern.

Texas-Rio Grande Valley will make a return trip to the finals to take on Georgia College.
