As the sun set over the horizon at Ashton Brosnaham Park, shouts of encouragement, excitement, and frustration could be heard as the last set of pool play games came to a close for the 2018 NIRSA National Flag Football Championship.  Some teams were looking to improve their standings within the playoff hunt, while others were just looking to make it to the 4:30pm draw.  Here is the last set of scores in pool play for the 4:00pm hour:

Valdosta State – 7

Thanks to a pick-six by Mark Johnson of SFA, the Lumberjacks gained momentum to take a first half lead of 13-0 over Valdosta State.  Derrion Alexander also had a TD reception and a TD pass breakup to help propel SFA to a 24-7 win.  Jeffery Martin also had an interception for the Lumberjacks, and captain Eris White had a TD throw to contribute in the win.

Valdosta State’s Brian Miller had the only TD reception for his team, and Paul Rose had two tackles for loss in the losing effort.  Tyler McClinton and Desmond Mitchell also added defensive pressure with a tackle for loss each.
