2017 marked the end of several flag football dynasties as three new schools earned national championships at the NIRSA Flag Football National Championships in Pensacola, Florida.

Florida, which eliminated 4-time champion UCF in the quarterfinals, outlasted Florida A&M in overtime 12-6 to win the women’s national championship.  In co-rec, Angelo State downed Georgia Southern 29-0.  #Team Fain from Georgia Southern had eliminated the 2016 champion Valdosta State in the semifinals.  And, in men’s action, two new teams batted for the title as UT San Antonio defeated Texas Southern 25-19 in an all-Texas final.
