Zach Danker-Feldman’s 22 points and 8 rebounds keyed a second half rally for Yale in it’s men’s club pool play match-up with Ivy Tech to start the day’s action at the 2017 NIRSA National Basketball Championships, hosted by Ohio State. Yale trailed 34-19 at the break, but pulled to within 5 with 7:00 minutes remaining. Ivy Tech shifted to a full-court press to stifle the rally and pull out a 57-51 win. Marc Brown totlaed 23 points to lead the Bears in the victory.
North Carolina held off Wisconsin Red 54-46 in men’s club pool play. Carolina held a comfortable lead most of the game, but a strong 2nd half push brought Wisconsin Red to within 4 points with less than 5 minutes remaining. Clutch rebounding from Michael Spears was key for the UNC defense as they fought off the charge for the 8-point win. Spears had a game-high 13 boards to go along with 9 points and 3 assists. Andrew Connelly led Wisconsin Red with 13 points in the defeat.
Penn State’s Gage Galeone posted 25 points and grabbed 5 rebounds but it was not enough as the Nittany Lions fell to Texas A&M 62-51 in other men’s club pool play action. Conor Colpays recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds as Notre Dame beat Towson 55-37.
