UCF, Texas St, Howard, and NC A&T Post Shutouts in Women’s Pool Play

Two more reigning champions picked up opening round wins in pool play games at 9:45 am.  2015 men’s champion Valdosta State opened its 2016 tournament with a 55-6 victory over Auburn University Montgomery.  And, UCF Check on It, the 2015 women’s champ, shutout West Florida 14-0 in its opening pool play game.

Lance Jarriel threw for 2 touchdowns and caught 2 others in Valdosta’s opening round victory.  JaMaar Sneed added a pair of interceptions to lead the NIKES defense.  Tati DeAraujo and Carli Homish both picked off a pass and scored touchdowns for UCF in its win.

In other 9:45 women’s games, NC A&T rolled past Florida 37-0.  Tiffany Ellick had four interceptions, returning 3 for touchdowns and added another TD reception on offense in the A&T Elite victory.  Jazmine Colin and Akila Forde each had a pair of touchdowns as Howard shutout Central Connecticut State 34-0.  Jayme Prinz had four TD passes including 2 to Breonia Flower, who also added a INT, in Texas State’s 34-0 win over Wayne State.

Dominique James had a pair of interceptions for Texas Southern, but NC A&T held off the Tigers 15-6 in men’s pool play action.  A&T had scores from Quinn Lulendo and Bryll Moss in its win.  Robell Tocruray found Kevan Hall for a late Texas Southern touchdown in the defeat.
