12 Noon Women’s Playoffs: UNC, UConn, Penn St, Ohio St Advance to Quarters

Sydney Browder scored twice, once in each half, as North Carolina downed Colorado Mines 2-0.  The Tar Heels will face UConn in the quarterfinals.  The Huskies held off Wisconsin 2-1.  For UConn, Julia Tiedt and Kelleigh Cokely were the goalscorers in the victory.

Two Big Ten teams will square off in the last of the quarterfinals in the women’s championship bracket.  Penn State downed Illinois 5-0.  The Nittany Lions scored 4 times in the first half, Emily Diehl netted two goals and Tory Adiam and Catherine Smith added a goal each.  Rachel Leake added a nice chip shot over the Illini keeper in the second half for the final goal.  Ohio State held off a tough Texas squad 1-0.  Veronica Zaciek scored the match’s only goal for the Buckeyes.
