With the results at 3:00 pm in, pools in the women’s championship are getting clearer as well.
Ohio State wins pool E. Their win over Florida 2-0 gives them 1st place and a place in the Round of 16. Texas A&M & Florida both lost 2-0 to Ohio State. Meaning the winner will advance to the Round of 16. A draw would most likely force kicks from the mark to determine 2nd place at a time to be determined. UC San Diego’s loss to UCONN means they will finish 3rd in pool F. UCONN & Miami (OH) will play to determine the winner of the pool. The winner wins. A draw favors Miami (OH) as they are at a +2 and UCONN at a +1 in goal differential.
Wisconsin defeats Syracuse 1-0 in pool G. Colorado State wins the group with a draw or better. Wisconsin advances as 2nd place if Colorado State wins or draws. A tiebreaker will be needed to determine places if Syracuse wins. Currently, Colorado State is at +1, Syracuse is at -1 and Wisconsin is done at a 0 in goal differential.
In pool H, Colorado “Gold” leads the pool with a win over Cal Poly 1-0. Colorado “Gold” will win the pool with a win or draw. Texas advances with a draw and wins the pool with a win. Cal Poly can advance if Texas loses by 2 or more goals. A 1-0 win over Texas by Colorado “Gold” would most likely force kicks from the mark to determine 2nd place at a time to be determined for Texas and Cal Poly.
