With the results at 1:15 pm in, pools in the men’s championship are getting clearer.
Stanford has won Pool A. With 2 wins in pool play they will advance to the Round of 16. Delaware and Central Florida will play tonight to decide the 2nd team to advance to the Round of 16. The winner will advance. Central Florida has the edge in case of a draw. UCF is currently at a -1 with Delaware at -2.
In pool B, Colorado will head to consolation after a 4-0 defeat to Long Beach State. Long Beach State and North Carolina will play to decide the group. The winner will win the pool. Long Beach State has the edge in case of a draw. Long Beach State is at a +4 with UNC at a +1.
Pools C & D are similar to the women’s championship division.
Wisconsin beat Florida 1-0 and leads the pool C. Florida is at 1 point for the pool and cannot improve. A draw in tonight’s match will see Wisconsin win the group and Texas A&M advance in 2nd. A Texas A&M win will see them win the pool with Wisconsin 2nd. A 1-0 win by Wisconsin tonight will most likely have to be settled with kicks from the mark for Texas A&M and Florida for 2nd place at a time to be determined. Georgia Tech & Minnesota played to a draw at 0-0. Georgia Tech would need the help of a 3 goal win by Michigan State (leader in pool D). A draw in the later match would see Michigan State and Minnesota through. A Minnesota win would win the pool. A 2-0 win by Michigan State tonight will most likely have to be settled with kicks from the mark for Georgia Tech & Minnesota for 2nd place at a time to be determined.
