Defending Champs win at 8am

The 2016 NIRSA National Soccer Championships are underway and all 3 defending champions are off to a winning start.

North Carolina held off a strong challenge from Colorado to win 1-0 in the men’s championship division.

Michigan State won their opener 2-0 over Delaware in the women’s championship division.

And Oregon is off to a fast start with a 4-0 victory over St. Edward’s.

The men’s championship division opened with a draw, two 1 goal games with Michigan State’s 2-0 over Georgia Tech the only multiple goal win.

The women’s championship division opened with one goal victories for Penn State and North Carolina and two goal victories for UCSB and Michigan State.

The men’s open division had James Madison equaling Oregon’s fast start with 4-0 of their own over Iowa State.  They face off today at 3pm in Men’s Open Pool A.  In Pool B Penn State opened with a victory in the last minute to lead their pool.  Purdue and Cal Poly opened with wins in Pool C.
